Kuipers: “The grip level was different everywhere so we had to make sure that we were always on guard. On some sections the mud was sticky but on other stages it was slippery like oil.” Despite these tricky conditions they progressed from 13th positions to the 8th position at the end of the rally.
After Germany, the magnificent fifth position in France and Spain, it is the fourth consecutive time that Kuipers and Miclotte finished in the top 10. “This series shows the progress made this season”, says Frederic Miclotte. “In Wales, we have proven that we are also getting quicker on gravel.”
